Size (when shipped): 8-12 inches, rooted cutting, leafing out (April-October), possible fruit formation. The seedling pictured is for reference only, your plants may be slightly shorter, larger, or fuller when received but still within this range.
Size (fully grown): 15+ feet
Description: An old time favorite, 'Brown Turkey' is a medium-small fig with a violet-brown skin and reddish-amber colored pulp. The fruit are tear-drop shaped. The pulp has a very sweet but not too rich taste, not quite as rich as 'Celeste.' Will produce 2 crops of figs a year (summer and yearly fall) when it reaches fruiting size. It fruits on new wood, so if you have an exceptionally cold winter and the plant gets killed to the ground, the plant will probably grow back and may even produce a crop the same year. These can also be grown as a patio plant that you can bring inside in the fall! Hardiness zones 7-11. Ficus carica.
Of note, if ordering this item from November-March, it will be shipped with no leaves on the plant as these fall off seasonally due to cold temperatures. This is normal! The root structures are very healthy and the plants are ready to be potted up. Leaves will begin to emerge again from the nodes in the spring.
