How to use our dehydrated pepper pods:
Make your own seasoning blends or rehydrate these pepper pods as a game-changer for your cooking! It softens the skin, awakens the dormant oils, and creates a pliable texture that’s much easier to blend into sauces or pastes. Available in multiple sizes by weight.
Variety description:
Box of chocolates, anyone? This rare strain of Carolina Reaper has beautiful chocolate coloring but tastes nothing like chocolate! As a Reaper, this is one of the hottest peppers in the world. This pepper is a cross between the Red Carolina Reaper and the Chocolate Trinidad Moruga Scorpion with heat levels ranging from 1.5-2.2 million Scoville Heat Units. With a very strong floral aroma, the fruity flavor is similar to the red variety but stands out with a unique hint of a smoky flavor upfront.
Instructions for rehydration:
Use the "Toast and Soak" Method
1) Prep the Peppers: Pull off the stems. If you want to decrease the heat, slice them open and shake out the seeds.
2) Toast (optional but recommended): Place the dry pods in a hot, dry skillet over medium heat for 30–60 seconds per side. You’re looking for them to become fragrant and slightly more flexible. Don't let them burn, or they’ll turn bitter!
3) The Boil: Bring a pot of water to a boil, then remove it from the heat.
4) Submerge: Drop the peppers into the hot water. Use a small plate or a heavy bowl to weigh them down so they stay completely submerged.
5) Wait: Let them sit for 15 to 30 minutes and use them as you wish!

**Special Note: Dehydrated pods can be fragile since they are dried and brittle. Sometimes, they may crack or split in transit, so we always try to throw in extra at no charge!
