Used extensively in Asian, Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian cuisines.  In the case of Thai cuisine, green peppers are typically used in green curries, while hotter, mature red peppers are used in red curries. If you want to decrease the heat, slice them open and shake out the seeds.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003e2) Toast (optional but recommended): Place the dry pods in a hot, dry skillet over medium heat for 30–60 seconds per side. You’re looking for them to become fragrant and slightly more flexible. Don't let them burn, or they’ll turn bitter!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003e3) The Boil: Bring a pot of water to a boil, then remove it from the heat.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003e4) Submerge: Drop the peppers into the hot water.
